Latisse is an extension of total facial rejuvenation to gain longer, fuller, darker lashes.  As we age, our lashes do not grow as long anymore, they become thinner and lighter in color. Latisse is the solution to gain the lashes of your youth. Even if you are young and you simply want longer, thicker, and darker lashes, Latisse can do that as well!  Latisse can work for all ages.

Our eyelashes have a growth cycle of 5 to 6 months.  Every eyelash is in a different part of the growth cycle.  When you begin using Latisse you will see visible results in 8 weeks.  Latisse doubles the amount of total eyelashes you have.

During research study of Latisse, 78% of patients experienced longer, thicker, darker lashes.

100% experienced at least two of the 3 (longer, thicker, darker).

Eyelashes will, on average, be 25% longer while using Latisse, 106% Fuller and 18% darker

In order to see these results you must do a full cycle of Latisse which is 16 weeks

Patient Questions about Latisse:

What is Latisse?

Latisse is a prescription treatment for hypotrichosis, used to grow eyelashes, making them longer, thicker, and darker.  Eyelash hypotrichosis is another name for having inadequate or less than normal amount of eyelashes.

Does Latisse work?

In a clinical study of 278 participants, 78% of Latisse users (versus 18% for the vehicle*) experienced a significant increase in overall eyelash prominence (including elements of length, fullness, and darkness) at week 16. Lashes were:

25% longer (2% for vehicle)

106% fuller (12% for vehicle)

18% darker (3% for vehicle)

*Vehicle is the same solution as Latisse without the active ingredient

How soon will I see results?

It's important to remember that Latisse solution works gradually. You should start to see longer lashes in 4 weeks, with full growth in 16 weeks. Stay on the product for 16 weeks to get the full dramatic results.  After 16 weeks, talk to Dr. Seiler about ongoing use. Individual results may vary.

Could it darken my eyelids?

Skin hyperpigmentation (or skin darkening) is a rare side effect, which typically occurs close to where the solution is applied on the skin, making the eyelid skin look a little darker.  This is due to an increase of melanin in the skin, but is expected to reverse after several weeks to months if you decide to stop using the product. This happens in less than 3% of Latisse users..

Could Latisse cause the color of my eyes to change?

There is no documented case of eye color change ever with Latisse. It occured when the same formulation of bimatoprost ophthalmic solution was instilled directly into the eye to treat elevated intraocular pressure in patients with glaucoma. This was not reported in clinical studies with Latisse.  Latisse solution is not dropped into the eye. Only a small amount is put on to an applicator and put on the eyelashes.

What if I stop using Latisse?

If you stop using Latisse solution, your eyelashes are expected to return to their previous appearance over serveral weeks to months as the treated eyelashes are replaced with new (untreated) eyelashes.  .

Since Latisse is relatively new, should I wait before using it?

Latisse received it's FDA approval in December 2008, after a team of 16 experienced doctors from all over the country conducted a clinical study.  Latisse is from Allergan, a specialty pharmaceutical company.  Since launch, 350,000 people have tried Latisse, with approximately 1.5 million kits sold.  Dr. Seiler has been providing it for his patients since its release and has had great success with it, without complications outside of rare mild irritation with initial use that subsides.  Many of his patients, staff members, family, and friends have had success with it and he has even used it himself! Dr. Seiler says, "my office manager, Marilyn, was the first to use it in my office and after two weeks I thought we would have to start trimming her eyelashes!"  Dr. Seiler completely supports the use of Latisse.

What does Latisse cost?

Latisse costs $120 for a two month supply.

How to apply

Like every routine, applying LATISSE™ (bimatoprost ophthalmic solution) 0.03% is all about consistency and precision. Once you follow the basic guidelines, the results will come gradually over time. To see the full effect of your eyelash transformation, take a "before" picture before you start the treatment, and keep taking pictures every 4 weeks to chart your progress.

Step 1 Before applying LATISSE™ each night, ensure your face is clean, makeup and contact lenses are removed, and any other facial care products have already been applied.
Step 2 Remove an applicator from its tray. Then, holding the sterile applicator horizontally, place one drop of LATISSE™ solution on the area of the applicator closest to the tip but not on the tip.
Step 3 Immediately draw the applicator carefully along the skin at the base of the upper eyelashes (where the eyelashes meet the skin) just as you would apply liquid eyeliner. This area should feel lightly moist without runoff.
Step 4 Blot any excess solution beyond the eyelid with a tissue.
Step 5 Repeat for opposite eyelid, using the same sterile applicator.  Dispose of the applicator.

Patient Comments:

"While pregnant with my second child at 23, I went through a lot of stress, and as a result, I began to lose my eyelashes … to the point where I literally had none! My eyes looked weird. It was embarrassing. I never realized the value of my eyelashes until they were gone.

To make up for the loss, I started wearing false eyelashes all the time, which wasn't always convenient. But I kept wearing them … for decades! I'd pretty much given up hope of ever having eyelashes again.

Then, at age 61, I was asked to participate in a clinical study for eyelash growth by my doctor. He didn't make any promises, but I was hopeful. The results were amazing! Finally, my lashes grew back thick and long! I was so excited. Now I have beautiful long eyelashes."

-Jeannie

"I've always had thin, short lashes. They were barely noticeable. Within the first month, my lashes started to grow and, within two months, they looked even better.

My favorite part is that the product is so easy to use."

-Hop

"After using the product, my eyelashes really stand out. I get compliments all the time and it feels great! Everyone wants to know my secret … People even ask if I am wearing false eyelashes.

I feel more confident knowing this product, unlike other lash growth products on the market, is FDA-approved, and comes from Allergan, a name I trust. I will absolutely tell all of my friends (and anyone who asks) about this new lash growth product."

-Lisa

"My eyelashes got so long, the tips of my lashes hit the lenses in my sunglasses!"
